Mr. President, It's Time for a Threesome!

Mr. President

You and I have a few unusual things in common, including GRADUATING from Amherst College and studying with the same Professors - Prof. Pavel Machala and Prof. Amrita Basu.

So, Mr President, allow me to address you NOT as the President of the Republic of Kenya, but as a Fellow Alumni of the Political Science Department, at Amherst College.

Mr. President,

Democracy as we know it has ventured into an uncharted territory.

The unfolding political debacles across the globe from Washington to Lavington, Kampala to Douala, are proof that we are witnessing the dawn of a new reality in Global politics - The collapse of a bi-polar world and the emergence of multi-polar semi-autonomous, supra-national spheres of influence.

De-polarization at the global level is simultaneously replicating at the domestic level as the two dynamics usually re-force each other.

Therefore the Trillion Dollar question is this...What is the future of Democracy? For the World? For Africa? And for Kenya?

Nations that will emerge from the present crisis with a strong political foundation will flourish in a new world economy that is rapidly unfolding in our eyes largely driven by technological advances such as virtual integration.

And yet again, East or West, Africa is in the Middle!

In “A Promised Land” President Obama relates the first major leadership challenge he faced as President - coming up with a rescue package for the US economy and halting the spiraling global financial meltdown. There is no doubt that the 2008 recession was occasioned by a spectacular example of the age-old mortal enemy of democracy - Corruption.

Mr. President,

Corruption makes cheap Politics.

Corruption is not unique to Kenya.

I therefore understand why you get angry with career politicians. Someone who has never held a management position might be tempted to think that Politics and Government are one and the same thing. You are not alone, Mr. President, to think otherwise.

While trying to save Americans from their own self-inflicted pain, President Obama encountered major backlash not only from Republicans but also from Democrats who disliked the fact that his stimulus package included funds for corrupt and morally bankrupt Wall Street.

The truth is, Leaders are forced to weigh between two inherently bad options: Short-term priorities such as managing Covid-19 pandemic vs Long-term Ambitions such as your pursuit of Justice and Accountability through BBI.

A career politician is no different from a social media Influencer. They feed off of pop culture which is itself inherently biased towards instant gratification. To be a career politician one has to sell their soul to the devil by sacrificing The Truth for propaganda.

Propaganda is the political opium of masses.

This is why Mr. President, Politics cannot change a country, but Policies Do.

This is why I deeply empathize with your frustration at the proliferation of career politicians in Kenya and more specifically, their use of The Hustler Narrative to sell propaganda to the masses.

Now, having graduated from Amherst, I am very much at home among Dynasties. But also Mr. President, I grew in up in Ndúndúri Gwakíongo, home of "the bastard child of the Kikuyu nation," and so I am right at home among Hustlers.

Perhaps Mr. President, I am one of a few who can help you unpack the Hustler vs Dynasty propaganda-vortex, by using a language that William Ruto cannot understand - The Mammoth Way!

Ahahahahaha!

Trust me, life is funny!

Mr. President,

During my first semester at Amherst, I took POLSCI 101 with Professors Pavel Machala and Gordon Levin where we read and analyzed the then “Candidate" Obama’s book, "Dreams from my Father,” and debated Winston Churchill, His Holiness The Dalai Lama, Sigmund Freud and even Niccolo Machiavelli.

Comparing Obama’s Presidency and your Presidency, three really interesting parallels emerge between your otherwise vastly different experiences at the high office.

Mr. President,

  1. You both came into power promising to unite countries that are deeply torn apart by the plague of endemic corruption and the widening inequalities.

  2. You both put Country before Party, championing the idea of Bi-Partisan Government with support from both sides of the isle.

  3. As a result, you both encountered severe backlash from career politicians who rely on corruption and partisan politics to capture and retain power.

In your case, Mr. President,

You came into power at a time when Kenya was still reeling from the aftermath of 2007-2008 Post-Election Violence. You even submitted yourself to the International Criminal Court to answer charges of Crimes Against Humanity! Like President Obama, you knew that sometimes what lies outside the borders matters more than what happens within them. This is one lesson that every nation that emerges from the current crisis will need to understand. The cold war is back, this time powered by the ferocious vengeance of a wounded Dragon.

Mr. President, I personally spent a couple dozen cold nights in the bush armed with a Bow, an Arrow, a Rungu and a Machete, waiting for a war that never come, and heavily pregnant with hope that my application to Amherst will be accepted.

I had just graduated from St. Mary’s and stood to lose the opportunity of a lifetime just because Mzee Kibaki refused to talk to Baba. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened to me had the two elders refused to heed the advise of former UNSG Kofi Annan to form a Coalition Government.

And this is how I know, Mr. President, that voting matters! Because the Personal is Political. Hope is Political. Dreams and Aspirations are Political. This is the ideological root the Hustler Narrative.

By joining hands with William Ruto to form the Jubilee, Mr. President you demonstrated a strong personal commitment to putting country first, and personal aside. You did the same thing by reaching out to Baba to form the Handshake Government.

Nevertheless, at each turn you have faced strong resistance from your own party, and your own people, The people of Mt. Kenya. Obviously, you are bound to be upset.

The law of nature says #FactThisShix!

The law of man says #HutiaNgoige!

But the Mammoth Spirit in you says #BringitOn!

Across the pond, President Obama inherited a country that was socially, politically and morally split right down the middle and an economy struggling to breathe due to Wall Street's choke-hold on the financial markets. He needed to move fast and actively enlist Republican support for his ideas.

President Obama agreed to work with the vilified outgoing President George W. Bush in order to get the $400 Billion Dollar TARP Bill passed through Congress. Once in office, President Obama went on to address the Republican Party's Annual Closed Door Dinner Event, hoping to convince them to cross ranks and pass The Recovery Bill.

He preferred to lead with a Handshake and not a Fist.

Coincidence? Perhaps not. I am sure you guys exchanged notes in Swahili when he stopped by for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

Mr. President,

The Emerging Phenomenon of “Bi-partisan Government” or "Government of both-hands" is not unique to Kenya or America. In fact, it signals the beginning of an exciting transition in the natural evolution of politics - a phenomenon driven in large part by the Invisible Hand of Politics - The Demographic X Technology equation, DxT.

Power, like its cousin Gravity devolves downwards. That’s why Kings and Empires are Gone. Dictators and Autocrats are on the way out. And soon enough, the only game in town will be Bi-Partisanship. Humans have a tendency to go against the law of nature but they always lose to Mother Universe. You, Mr. President has indeed seen the future. Bi-Partisanship is the hill you chose to die on and so it will come to pass.

But remember, There is life after political death and President Obama is a living example of this fact.

The DxT dynamic dictates how leaders manage the twin responsibilities of harnessing The People’s Will and Accounting for their Common Purse.

The word here is DICTATE because Demographic and Technology dynamics vastly outpower Political propaganda.

This dynamic presents a pretty daunting challenge for the career politician who pursues government hoping to lead an Army of Lions only to find himself mothering a family of cats.

You, like President Obama, absolutely did the right thing in creating a Bi-Partisan Government at a time when much of the world is suffering under the yoke of autocractic rule.

Bi-Partisanship is based on the idea that we may Agree to Disagree but we have no choice to work together. NO CHOICE! Zilch! ZE.RO!

This is as important an aspect of your legacy as it is for President Mwai Kibaki and The Grand Mullah of Kenyan politics R.A.O. The spirit of Bi-partisanship is your political endowment as a scion of the so called Dynasties.

President Kibaki shook hands with Raila Odinga and agreed to form the first Coalition Government in Kenya’s history. It is this Coalition Government that allowed our country to create our first ever Home-grown Constitution - one that we can call our very own.

Your Bromance with Ruto took the spirit of Bi-partisanship to another level. The Handshake is firmly in line with the logical progression of evolutionary politics.

Nonetheless, Bi-Partisan Governments only work for a short while before imploding from within, for no plan survives contact with the enemy. The mortal enemy of democracy is Corruption. President Obama ended his last term as a lame-duck President, having lost the Senate and eventually lost the white house to a political clown.

Mr. President,

Bi-Partisan Government is the next step in evolutionary politics, a journey that will continue well beyond our lifetimes. #WeThePeople will remember you for taking the path less traveled and championing the spirit of Ubuntu.

Now, it’s time for a Threesome!

You see,

When you campaign for office, The People entrust you with their HOPE.

And when you get into office, The People entrust you with their WILL

The People’s Will does not end at the Ballot.

No.

The People’s Will, begins at the Ballot

You are therefore right to argue that the role of government is not to dab in politics, but to deliver on a Social contract that the polity expects OF themselves. In other words, D.P.R and his brigade may very well be a political geniuses but they are novices when it comes to matters governance.

The distinction between Politics and Governance tricks many a career politicians to think that the Presidency is just another Big Desk in a Big Office in a Big Building on a Big Hill where they can look down on everyone else and tell them what to do. Government works in the exact opposite direction.

The Job Description of a Democratic Government is to harness #ThePeoplesWill through Industry and Innovation in order to make a better life for themselves and the future generations.

Being a winner in any competition - be it a business negotiation with a Billionaire or a mega political deal with 49 Million people - the greatest responsibility you bear as a winner is how to harness #TheCollectiveWill towards a #CommonPurpose, and NOT to impose your will on The People.

Leadership is a burden not a joy.

During campaigns, The People Invest their hope in a new government. But here is the catch: They start cashing out from Day One! This is why to a Venture Capitalist, Politics is a Suicide Mission!

Dynasties, Mr. President are Political VCs. Investing for the long-run. Hoping to turn Kenya into a Unicorn Democracy. Hustlers on the other hand are fledgling upstarts threatening to disrupt legacy politics that the #KANUGeneration painstakingly built for the last 60 years. For now, the Hustlers have the upper hand with a resonating narrative and accompanying propaganda to mobilize The Will of the Ordinary Kenyan Youth.

You get a catch, they get a catch too!

Virtually every government that comes into power is dealt with the impossible duty of handling the most precious of our human gifts - The People’s Will. No one can single-handedly manage a Government of Hustler's. No one! This is the Achilles heel of the Hustler Movement.

Mútongoria,

Ndigúkúhitha, na Ndigúkúhenia,

Andú matarí ndundu mahúragwo na njúgúma ímwe!

Like President Obama,

You need a TEAM.

A TEAM of RIVALS!!!!!!!

While deeply unsettling for a young country, Hustler Narrative follows a natural evolutionary path of emerging democracies - where The Demographic x Technology (DxT) index favors the youth. The Hustler Narrative is an early stage startup riding on the ever rising tide of democratic progression, which is itself powered by the evolutionary human quest for a Just Society.

We may not always live in peace, so Justice must be our Shield and Defender.

Mr. President, Dynasties have the political capital. Hustlers have the People’s Will. Together, you can birth a unicorn democracy founded on the values of Bi-Partisanship. Let no one lie to you. Hustlers and Dynasties need each other. You knew this from the beginning and that's why you teamed up with WSR to form the Jubilee Government in the first place!

Mr. President, now is the perfect time for you to try a Threesome!!! Ahahahahahaha!

From Athens, to Nairobi, Democracy took several thousand years and it will take thousands more to become an ideal governing system. We still have a long way to go.

But I can assure you Mr. President,

History will remember you for your selfless contribution towards the evolution of Bi-Partisan Government, and in so doing making Kenya a shining example for Africa and for future generations around the world.

Mr. President,

Allow me to finish with a word of advice,

To Whom much is given, much is expected

You being the son of our founding father and the champion of Bi-Partisan Government, has shown that Democracy has a bright future in Kenya and indeed in Africa.

Only you can appreciate the genius of a #ThreesomeGovernment.

I hope you find your #Brojo (Bro-Mojo) with WSR (who has already shown interest in Baba's bedroom) and share it with RAO for the ultimate #PoliticalThreesome!

Mr. President, You have a country to run and I have a Bread to win.

#GodSpeed
